Exhibition: ODES TO THE OFFSEASON
November 17
We are on the move. All of us and at all times. And yet each of us alone, in our own way. We are on the move because it is not possible here. We want to go where it is different. The main thing is: not here. We set out on the way. But on the way, nothing but trouble awaits us; when we get there, only disappointment. I’m standing in front of the Taj Mahal, but I had imagined it to be bigger. In Yosemite, I’m stuck in traffic. The Louvre is full.
We look for the magic and find only waiting lines. At check-in, on freeways and in cities, around the block again for parking, at the cash register, at the buffet. On the airport tarmac, planes restlessly fluff their wings before taking off into the sky, timed by the minute.
“Odes to the Offseason” is an unfinished series about slow travel without queues by Berlin-based Photographer and Producer Gordon Griffey (aka Christopher Ratter). “Odes to the Offseason” is also his debut album as a Beatmaker and invites listeners into a world of carefully crafted jazz-infused soundscapes.
